Valentine's day is one of our favorite times. It's a great time to celebrate with your BAE and show them you appreciate and love them whether its a date night out or home cooked meal. This year we indulged in some delicious sushi, macarons, and chocolate bon bons.
To start we tried the HOT DATE sushi roll at Shijo Sushi - inside was prawn tempura, avocado, and tobiko. The roll was topped with red tuna, black tobiko, and a jalepeno to spice things up!
We also tried some new menu items including the Kale Gomae (normally prepared with spinach in a rich peanut sauce), Salmon Ceviche (fusion take with a citrus sauce for dipping), and Shoyu Miso Prawns (cold prawns in a delightfully tasty Soy Miso broth).
Whether you are two loverbirds, friends, or loveshrimps, this plae has some great sushi and the presentation is super thoughtful and pretty.
Next up is one of our favorite bakeries in YYC! @8cakesyyc takes the cake (pun intended) for creativity in baking. We have featured their macarons before and each time they have a "wow" factor.
This Valentine's Day, the macarons were uber cute with a panda couple, elephant, and valentine unicorn. (see below)
We just loved the flavors and texture of these macarons and even better that they are 30% less sugar. This bakery also does vegan baked goods all the way down to their sprinkles! If you haven't yet checked them out in MardaLoop, you def gotta.
Last but not least, we tried some decadent chocolate bonbons from Nicole Buckton's L O V E collection. She had such amazing flavors including:
- Raspberry Dark chocolate
- Peanut Butter Banana
- Passion Fruit
- Espresso Caramel
- Cinnamon Milk Chocolate
- Dark Truffle
Those Chocolates are available at the Symons valley ranch Mercantile and the Avenida Food Hall Mercantile.
We loved trying all of these Valentine’s Day inspired treats and eats.
Wishing you all a very lovely and sweet Valentine's day!
